LILONGWE WATER BOARD INTRODUCES ON-SITE BILLING

PILOTING OF THE ON-SITE BILLING SYSTEM (POMPO-POMPO BILLING) Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) is pleased to inform all its valued customers that it will soon be rolling out its Pompo-Pompo Billing Service that will enable meter readers to read meters using mobile devices, bill and print the bill slips right on site soon after the meter readings have been captured. To enable a smooth transition from the current system to this on-site billing and printing system, the Board embarked on the pilot phase of the project from Monday 7th November, 2016. The areas involved in this pilot phase include: Area 18 in the Northern Zone; Areas 15 and 41 in the Central Zone; and Areas 37 and 38 in the Southern Zone. The Pompo-Pompo Billing Service is one of the reform areas in the on-going Malawi Government’s Public Sector Reforms Management and is expected that once fully rolled out, the service will enable the Board to reduce the challenges it faces in the delivery of water bills to its customers and help the Board’s customers plan appropriately when settling their bills. The Board is appealing to all its customers to support the meter readers as they undertake the exercise. Once the service is fully implemented, it will also enable customers to get water bills on their mobile phones through an SMS, therefore, during the meter reading customers will also be requested to provide their mobile phone numbers that will be logged into the system. The Board further appeals to its valued customers that whenever they have queries over their bills, such queries should be brought to the attention of the Board through the Zone Offices or the Head Office for redress and not directly to the meter readers on site.
